I got into a car accident 2 years ago. Finally went to depositions. The Insurance Company of the other driver called my lawyer right after that and made a settlement offer which my lawyer felt was too low. He called me and said that he was going to try to settle for a little higher. A short time later he called me back and said that he was able to reach a settlement with the Insurance Company. He said, that he and I would have to sign off on the release agreement and that once the check cleared, I should receive my part of the settlement.
That was almost a month ago. The Insurance company hasn’t sent any release papers for me or my lawyer to sign. I called my lawyer to ask him whats going on and he said that they haven’t been in contact with him. He has called repeatedly and left message after message yet, they haven’t returned any calls which has me worried. This was two weeks before Xmas.
My question is this:
Is this unusual? Has anyone ever had this happen to them?
